Cole Custer 2020 season in review

Cole Custer took home Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in 2020, finishing 16th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.

Custer captured his first top 10 at Phoenix Raceway in the spring, finishing ninth.

At Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July, Custer came from the 30th starting position to record his first career top five, finishing fifth.

Custer followed up his top five at Indianapolis with his first career NASCAR Cup Series win at Kentucky Speedway. Custer led five laps overall, including the final one when he took the lead with an impressive four-wide pass on the outside as the field took the white flag. He became the first rookie to win a Cup race since Chris Buescher in 2016.

Custer ended the season with one win and seven top 10s. Custer's final top 10 of the year came in the NASCAR Playoffs at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, finishing ninth.

Custer: "I think we have a lot to look forward to next year and we have a lot to build on. It was definitely a rookie season with a lot of peaks and valleys. It was a really interesting season to be a rookie with no practice, no testing or qualifying, so it was a lot of just learning on the fly, but I think we all managed it very well."
