Six teams participated in a two-day test session scheduled Monday and Tuesday at Richmond Raceway, trying out a new splitter for potential use on short tracks and road courses in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series. The angled "lift splitter" was intended to reduce the negative effects of turbulent, "dirty" air for trailing cars and has been tested with computer modeling and in the wind tunnel. Monday and Tuesday marked the next phase of testing for the new part, moving to the 0.75-mile Virginia track. Here, Christopher Bell's No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota leads the pack during Tuesday's runs.

Officials introduced a pair of aero changes to the rear of the test cars in Tuesday's sessions, removing the diffuser and increasing the spoiler size to 4 inches (up from 2 inches) to adjust the cars' balance. Teams also cycled through different Goodyear tire compounds over the course of Tuesday's schedule.
