We celebrate the life and career of Hall of Famer Davey Allison with a look back at his life on July 13, 2023 — 30 years after he tragically passed away.

Davey Allison's racing career started very young as the son of racing legend Bobby Allison.

1983: Davey Allison with the car he drove to victory in the ARCA Menards Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

1984: Davey Allison ran seven races in what is now the Xfinity Series in Miller Beer-sponsored Pontiacs owned by his father Bobby Allison.

1986: Davey Allison on pit road before the running of the Miller High Life 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway. The race was one of five Cup races he qualified for during the year driving a Chevrolet for Sadler Brothers Racing. He finished the Richmond race in 12th place.

1987: Davey Allison with his first full-time ride in NASCAR's big leagues, Harry Ranier's No. 28 Ford Thunderbird.

1987: Davey Allison (No. 28) races his father Bobby in the Daytona 500.

1987: Davey Allison celebrates his first career win in Victory Lane after the Winston 500 race May 3, 1987 at Talladega Superspeedway.

1987: Davey Allison and his crew celebrate his first victory in what is now the NASCAR Cup Series at Talladega Superspeedway.

1988: Bobby Allison won the Daytona 500 two car-lengths ahead of his son, Davey. It was only the second time in NASCAR history a father-son duo finished 1-2. Richard Petty and father Lee did so in 1960 at Heidelberg, Pennsylvania.

1989: Davey Allison wins the Winston 500 and poses with his trophy and Miss Winston Sandi Fix.

1992: Davey Allison, driving the Robert Yates Racing No. 28 Ford, celebrates with his dad Bobby and mom Judy after winning the 1992 Daytona 500.

1993: Bobby Allison joins his son, Davey, in Victory Lane at Richmond Raceway after Davey won the Pontiac Excitement 400. It would be the younger Allison's final Cup victory.

1993: In the last season for the short-lived Dodge Daytona cars, Davey Allison won the series. He was killed in a helicopter accident prior to the last race. Terry Labonte stepped in to drive, and his points went to Davey's total for the championship.

Davey Allison lost his life July 13, 1993, in a helicopter accident. During the Pocono race the next weekend, fans showed their love with homemade banners.

2016: That Texaco star is still shining in NASCAR. Dakoda Armstrong honored Davey Allison with a throwback paint scheme at Darlington Raceway on Sept. 3.
