A then 16-year-old Logano made three starts in a tour-type Modified in 2007 He finished ninth in the Richie Evans 100, won by Jimmy Blewett. Also in the race? A 16-year-old Ryan Preece.

Ryan Newman won the 25-lap tour-type Modified race on Feb. 9, 2009, driving the 7NY for car owner Kevin 'Bono' Manion.

Daniel Hemric ran 11 races between 2011-14. He won a Super Late Model feature in 2011, and a tour-type Modified race in 2012, when he finished the World Series third in points

Not the World Series, but Erik Jones conquered New Smyrna as a 15-year-old in 2011. The Michigan driver led every lap - holding off New Smyrna veteran David Rogers - to win the Florida Governor's Cup that November.

In his first asphalt stock car start, Kyle Larson edged Ben Kennedy on a final restart to claim the Pete Orr Memorial Orange Blossom 100 on Feb. 11, 2012. Larson followed up his first NASCAR win and two seconds in six starts during the 2012 World Series.

William Byron got his 2015 K&N Pro Series East campaign started with a seventh-place finish at New Smyrna. He took over the points lead two races later en route to the championship.

Christopher Bell made three starts in 2015 in the Super Late Model Division during the World Series at New Smyrna. On the final night, the then 20-year-old 20, won his first NASCAR Super Late Model race, pulled away from a 14-year-old Harrison Burton to take the Bruce Gowland Memorial 100.

From a 16-year-old racing the banked half-mile, Ryan Preece has come a long way. The Connecticut driver has eight wins - including three in the prestigious Richie Evans/Ted Christopher Memorial 100. He won the championship from 2015-17 to became just the third driver to win three or more consecutive Modified titles - joining Evans and Christopher.
