History of NASCAR drivers in the Rolex 24 at Daytona

Defending Daytona 500 champion Austin Cindric will once again take part in the Rolex 24 this year. Last year, Cindric and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson were on different teams in the sports-car race at Daytona International Speedway's road layout.

2018-20, 2022: Former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion and current NASCAR Cup Series driver Austin Cindric raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, driving the No. 15 Proton USA Mercedes-AMG GT3 teamed with Dirk Mueller and Patrick Assenheimer.

Cindric competed on the No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports team in '18 and the AIM Vasser-Sullivan team in '19. Cindric ran the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge opener in '20 in the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4.

2004-05, 2007-11, 2021-22: Former seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, driving the No. 48 Ally Action Express Cadillac DPi teamed with Mike Rockenfeller, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez.

Best finish of second in 2005, 2008 and 2021.

2021: Former Daytona 500 winner Austin Dillon competed in the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Dillon drove for the No. 51 RWR-Eurasia Ligier LMP2 teamed with Salih Yoluc, Cody Ware and Sven Muller.

2021: Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott competed in the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Elliott drove for the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi teamed with Mike Conway, Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani.

2006-16, 2018-21: AJ Allmendinger won the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. In 2018-19, he competed with the No. 86 Michael Shank Racing team. In 2020, he competed in the No. 57 entry of Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing. In 2021, he competed in the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb-Agajanian Acura DPi with Juan Pablo Montoya as a teammate, finishing fourth.

2007-13, 2018-21: In 2021, Juan Pablo Montoya competed in the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb-Agajanian Acura DPi. He also drove with a three-man Team Penske squad in the No. 6 Acura DPi. He also has Rolex 24 overall wins in 2007-08 and 2013 with Chip Ganassi Racing.

2020: Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch competed in the 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Busch drove for the No. 14 AIM Vasser-Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 teamed with Jack Hawksworth, Parker Chase and Michael De Quesada.

2018, 2020: Chase Briscoe drove in the Continental Tire Series' Roar Before the 24. In 2020, Briscoe teamed with Hailie Deegan in the No. 22 Multimatic Motorsports Ford in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge opener.

2018: Scott Pruett retired after the 2018 Rolex 24 race. He won the overall title at the event five times: 1994, 2007-08, 2011 and 2013. Pruett had 40 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, with three top-five finishes.

2007, 2017: Jeff Gordon. Ten years after his previous Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway driving stint, Gordon returned and scored a victory. The former four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion drove for Wayne Taylor Racing, teaming with Jordan and Ricky Taylor and Max Angelelli to win the Rolex 24.

in 2007, Gordon finished third overall, also with Wayne Taylor Racing.
