Defending 2018 Cup Series champion Joey Logano fell just short of a chance to race for another title at Homestead this season. Still, the year was full of highlights, eventful moments and a fifth-place finish in the final standings for Logano and the No. 22 team.

Logano reached another milestone in 2019, racing his way to his 200th career top 10 after posting 21 this season. It became his fifth season at NASCAR's top level with at least 20 or more top 10s and 12 or more top fives.

After teammate Brad Keselowski passed Logano for the win at Atlanta in February, Logano got his revenge at Las Vegas the following week. Passing Keselowski for the final time on Lap 244 of 267, Logano held off his Team Penske partner for his first ever win at the track and locked himself into the NASCAR Playoffs.

With his win at Las Vegas, Logano became one of only four active drivers to have eight or more consecutive seasons with a win. His streak of eight dating back to 2012 only trails Keselowski (nine), Kevin Harvick (10) and Kyle Busch (15) for most in the Cup Series.

In more dominant fashion, Logano won the race at Michigan after starting on the pole and leading a race-high 163 laps. Holding off a late charge by Kurt Busch in a rain-delayed overtime finish, Logano became the first driver of the season to win from the pole.

Logano headed into the Round of 16 opener at Las Vegas fifth in the standings, carrying two wins and four runner-ups. Top 10 finishes at Vegas and the Roval easily moved Logano into the next round alongside teammates Keselowski and Ryan Blaney.

Despite mechanical issues at Dover and finishing outside the top 10 at both Talladega and Kansas, Logano staved off elimination and advanced to the Round of 8 for the second consecutive year.

Denny Hamlin and Logano added another chapter to their rivalry with an altercation after October's race at Martinsville. After an on-track incident sparked a pit-road confrontation between the drivers, Logano's shove of Hamlin prompted an altercation between both teams.

AVONDALE, ARIZONA - NOVEMBER 10: Joey Logano, driver of the #22 Shell Pennzoil Ford, and his crew chief Todd Gordon stand on the grid after failing to make the championship race following the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bluegreen Vacations 500 at ISM Raceway on November 10, 2019 in Avondale, Arizona. The No. 22 team's speed faltered in the Round of 8 finale at Phoenix after a strong start and Stage 2 win. Needing to hold off Hamlin and Kyle Busch for the final transfer spots into the Championship 4, an air pressure adjustment led to Logano's car and his hopes for back-to-back titles fading into the pack.
