Kurt Busch finished 10th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings after making the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year.

Busch won the playoff opener at his home track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, to extend his season winning streak to seven.

After getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in 2019, Busch returned to the Round of 8 for the fourth time since the elimination format began in 2014.

Busch entered the Round of 8 as the eighth seed, but fell 73 points to the cutoff in the opening race at Kansas Speedway after an engine failure.

Busch finished seventh at Texas and fifth at Martinsville, but missed making the Championship 4 by 86 points.

Busch ended the year with one win, seven top fives and 19 top 10s in his second season driving the No. 1 Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing.
 
"We had an incredible win in Vegas and some great turnarounds at tracks that we struggled at this year," Busch said. "I couldn’t be more proud of Matt McCall and all the guys at Chip Ganassi Racing. We were bringing better cars throughout the playoffs."
