Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, had a breakout year in 2017, which included four wins, 15 top fives, 20 top-10 finishes and 1,352 laps led. Finishing eighth in the final standings, see highlights from his fourth Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

On top of four victories, Kyle Larson was a bridesmaid on a number of occasions throughout the season. He recorded a total of eight second-place finishes, including three straight at Atlanta, Las Vegas and Phoenix earlier in the season before notching his first win of the year at Auto Club Speedway.

After the slew of runner-ups, Kyle Larson finally broke into Victory Lane in the final race of NASCAR’s West Coast swing at Auto Club Speedway. He started from the pole and led 110 of 202 laps en route to punching an early ticket into the Playoffs.

Just like his first victory of the season, Kyle Larson started from the top spot and dominated the June race at Michigan International Speedway, leading 96 of 200 laps to get win No. 2 on the year. The 2.5-mile oval is also home to his first career-Cup victory in 2016.

Kyle Larson racked up three Coors Light Pole awards during the 2017 season (Auto Club, Michigan, Sonoma), although he started first on five different occasions total due to rained out qualifying sessions at Martinsville and Bristol in the spring.

Kyle Larson has made it tough for the competition to beat him at Michigan, collecting his third straight victory there in August with a bold move in an overtime restart to steal the win away from Martin Truex Jr.

Kyle Larson finished off the Monster Energy Series regular season with his fourth and final victory of the season at Richmond Raceway, picking up more valuable bonus points heading into the Playoffs.

After posting finishes of fifth or better in the first round, Kyle Larson looked poised for the Championship 4. But then disaster struck in the Round of 12 elimination race at Kansas as the No. 42’s engine expired on Lap 73, abruptly ending title hopes.

On November 7, 2017, Kyle Larson and longtime girlfriend, Katelyn Sweet, announced they were expecting their second child. The couple has a son, Owen. Baby No. 2 is scheduled to arrive in May 2018.

Kyle Larson wrapped up his fourth full-time season with a third-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway, getting a front-row seat to watch Martin Truex Jr. prevail over Kyle Busch for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship.

Kyle Larson a.k.a. “Yung Money” parked it a few times in Victory Lane on the sprint car scene over the course of the year. An incredible show of raw racing talent, Larson won well over 10 races on dirt, including five victories in five starts from June 13 to July 4.
