“Wait … was that … ” you may find yourself asking from time to time as you stream an old TV show or movie. And while NASCAR drivers have been featured prominently in several movies (“Stroker Ace,” “Talladega Nights,” “Logan Lucky,” “Cars,” etc.), they’ve also shown up in the most unexpected corners of the entertainment industry. What follows is a list of NASCAR driver cameos @nascarcasm promises are real.

Austin Dillon starred in a recent episode of what is apparently an intense military drama and not a light-hearted romp about a team of aquatic mammals that disguise themselves in trench coats and fedoras and go around town solving crimes. Whatever.

You probably remember Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano’s brief cameos in “Sharknado 3.” But we’re including this one because when the playwright Aeschylus first invented the art of drama back in ancient Greece … THIS is precisely what he envisioned.

So Carl Edwards portrayed a homeland security agent on an episode of “24” in 2006, but for the sake of brevity, this is the only Edwards entry we're going to include in this gallery. Check out his IMDB page. He has been in so … much … stuff. Sitcoms. Dramas. Music Videos. I don’t know how he had time to drive.

A person of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s stature has obviously made several appearances, but this one stands out. He apparently voiced a character in the 2007 “Scarface The World Is Yours” video game. SAY HELLO TO MY JUNIOR FRIEND, I guess.

Jamie McMurray got the ring from Hollywood in 2005, appearing briefly in an episode of the popular political drama, “The West Wing.” In this episode, the first lady visits the track and appears with the winning team in Victory Lane. McMurray, kid you not, plants a fat smooch on her cheek. What a troublemaker that guy is.

There has always been something about Jamie McMurray that just screams, “Soap opera based on the paranormal.” He appeared as himself in a single episode in 2007.

Not to be outdone in the soap-opera genre, Jeff Burton appeared as himself in a 2009 episode of “General Hospital.” Burton wasn’t going to let Jamie McMurray get that daytime Emmy, by God.

There’s really no other driver who is better suited to espouse good life advice to coming-of-age teenagers than Jeff Burton. That’s why he has chosen to appear on the teen drama in 2005.

Ol’ "Seven-Time" portrayed himself in an episode of NBC’s Sin City-based drama. He was visiting the fictional casino as the judge of a car show. Special thanks to the Florida grandmother who donated material from her drapes so Johnson could wear that shirt.

Kyle Busch shared the screen with Charlie Sheen in an episode of his sitcom, “Anger Management.” Wonder why they picked him.

In 2018, Matt DiBenedetto appeared on the TV version of “Lethal Weapon.” The IMDB entry credits him with the role of “Beer-Throwing Biker,” and I’m not lying. He probably spent most of the time telling the director how “Lethal Weapon” is the nickname for both of his arms.

Mark Martin. Mitch Buchannon. Street race. Fierce glances exchanged. Sorry if you thought there would be slow-motion footage of Martin running down the beach.

Mark Martin also appeared on a 2005 episode of the “Guiding Light” soap opera and … OMG, there’s Carl Edwards again. That guy is constantly renewing his Screen Actors Guild card.

Tony Stewart played himself on a 2012 episode of “Last Man Standing,” loaning his race car to Tim Allen’s store for a promotion. We assume hijinx then ensued.
