1. Mark Martin’s “I’m Retiring!” Prank, 2005: NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Mark Martin is not only one of the sport’s most well-respected drivers, but also quite the merry prankster! He pulled this one in 2005, and it worked so well he repeated it 18 more times in the following years.

2. Carl Edwards' “See You Next Year!” Prank, 2016: OH, we believed him at the time! But turns out Carl actually had other plans -- to return to Missouri and his farm. He announced his intentions at a surprise press conference in early 2017, and he’s Amish now, we think.

3. Denny Hamlin tells Bubba Wallace “You’re Out of The League, Pal!” 2018: A disagreement between Denny and Bubba after the 2018 Daytona 500 led to Denny jokingly informing Bubba that he was kicked out of Denny’s basketball and golf leagues. 6. The Ol’ iPhone Word Swap, 2018: Alex Bowman’s teammates took advantage of the iPhone’s “text shortcut” feature before the Daytona 500, so that every time Alex typed “ready” it would automatically change to “sweaty.” You have to haze the rookie.

7. Bad Moon Rising, 2018: Austin Dillon thought it might be funny to sit on the photocopier pantsless at the race shop and make several copies and post them all over his grandfather’s office. One visit to the human resources office where he was informed that no one else has a Daytona 500 tattoo there took all the mystery out of it, though.

8. Making Blaney Cut His Hair, 2018: Ryan Blaney cut his long hair and mustache in early 2018 in accordance with Team Penske’s clean-cut reputation. His first day on the track, owner Roger Penske walked up to him like this and asked “Well what did you do that for, Ryan?”
