The Hendrick Motorsports operation is a 430,000-square-foot facility located in Concord, North Carolina, minutes away from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

2 of 19

The team fields four entires in the Sprint Cup Series: No. 5 of Kasey Kahne, No. 24 of Chase Elliott, No. 48 of Jimmie Johnson and No. 88 of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

3 of 19

The Hendrick Motorsports organization began in 1984 with driver Geoff Bodine, who won his first race with the organization at Martinsville that season. The win allowed team owner Rick Hendrick to keep the doors open to his then-small race shop. The original shop is located at the top of the hill of the team's sprawling campus.

4 of 19

The campus has two race shops on the property. One is devoted to the Nos. 5 and 24 cars and the other builds the Nos. 48 and 88 machines.

5 of 19

Since 1984, Hendrick Motorsports has earned 242 Sprint Cup wins, 29 XFINITY victories and 25 Camping World Truck Series wins. Jimmie Johnson most recently represented the team in Victory Lane at Auto Club Speedway on March 20, 2016.

6 of 19

Team owner Rick Hendrick owns a record of 14 championship titles across three national series, 11 of the titles coming in the Cup Series.

7 of 19

In addition to its own four cars, Hendrick Motorsports also builds chassis and engines for several teams in NASCAR including Stewart-Haas Racing, JR Motorsports and HScott Motorsports.

The chassis and engine shops are also located on the team's campus, across the street from the race shops.

Hendrick Motorsports expanded to a four-car team in 2004, the only organization to field four cars at the time. Several well-known Cup drivers have wheeled Hendrick Motorsports rides in years past, including Kyle Busch, Darrell Waltrip, Ken Schrader, Brad Keselowski and Brian Vickers.

Recently retired champion Jeff Gordon spent his entire Cup career with Hendrick Motorsports from late 1992 through 2015, earning 93 wins for the organization.

During his Cup career, Jeff Gordon earned four championships with Hendrick Motorsports.

Twenty-year-old Chase Elliott, son of Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, took over the famed No. 24 car for Jeff Gordon in 2016. In preparation for his Cup transition, Elliott also ran five races for Hendrick Motorsports in 2015.

13 of 19

Prior to the start of his Cup career, Elliott raced in the XFINITY Series under the JR Motorsports umbrella -- a team co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Rick Hendrick -- winning the championship in 2014. Elliott's HMS teammate and new shopmate Kasey Kahne also wheels JR Motorsports cars on occasion in the XFINITY Series.

Hall of Famer Terry Labonte earned the organization its second Cup championship in 1996, beating out teammate and 1995 champion Jeff Gordon.

15 of 19

Tragedy struck Hendrick Motorsports in 2004, when a team plane bound for Martinsville Speedway crashed, leaving no survivors. There were 10 people aboard: Rick Hendrick's son Ricky Hendrick, his brother and team president John Hendrick, his nieces Kimberly and Jennifer Hendrick, team general manager Jeff Turner, lead engine builder Randy Dorton, Dupont executive Joe Jackson, Tony Stewart's pilot Scott Lathram and pilots Richard Tracy and Elizabeth Morrison. Tributes to those lost can be found throughout campus.

Race shop lobbies are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. There is also a museum open to the public that depicts the organization's rich history.

17 of 19

Pit practice occurs weekly at the pit pad located on the team's campus, using practice race cars.

18 of 19

The pit crews complete a form of conditioning known as 'heat training' throughout the summer months on the team's field. Comprised of timed exercises done with partners, the training helps prepare the pit crew members for the grueling temperatures on pit road.

19 of 19

Pit crew performers also receive weekly training by three trained professionals throughout the year that ranges from weight lifting to yoga.
