When Chase Elliott won the championship, it was the first time he has led the points standings in his NASCAR Cup Series career.

Chase Elliott was the third driver in history to win a championship with precisely 22 top 10s on the season. The other two were Jimmie Johnson (2008) and Chase’s dad, Bill Elliott (1988). All three of them also earned exactly 15 top-five finishes.
