NASCAR Nationwide Series opening practice was scheduled to start at noon ET, but a cold, driving rain and wind caused the 50-minute session to be canceled. Opening practice for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was scheduled at 1 p.m. ET for the fourth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoffs.

The lone Nationwide practice will now take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. ET, and Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the Sprint Cup field (5:45 p.m. ET, ESPN2) is so far on schedule at the 1.5-mile track.

Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 (2 p.m. ET, ESPN) marks the opening race in the Contender Round, the second three-race series of eliminations in the new Chase postseason format. Just 12 drivers remain title-eligible after last weekend’s cut at Dover International Speedway; the championship field will be trimmed to eight in two weeks at Talladega Superspeedway.

Kevin Harvick enters the 400.5-mile event as the defending race winner. Jeff Gordon, who prevailed last weekend at Dover, also won Kansas’ most recent race May 10.
