Chase Elliott’s wild ride in the Coke Zero 400 on Saturday night led to some testy words over the radio — words that Michael McDowell fired back at on Twitter Wednesday.
An accident on the backstretch on Lap 98 involving Elliott, McDowell, Kasey Kahne and Trevor Bayne saw the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet go sliding through the grass.
That incident led to Elliott saying this over the radio to his team, as can be heard on NASCAR.com’s Scanner Sounds: “That damn 95 (McDowell) wrecks me one more time man. Damnit. …What in the hell is that (expletive’s) problem, man? That is the biggest dumb ass I’ve ever seen in my life. That (expletive) can’t drive a wooden screw.”
For his part, McDowell can be heard on Scanner Sounds saying: “The 5 knocked me into the 24 there.”
The driver of the No. 95 Leavine Family Racing Chevrolet returned some heat of his own Wednesday morning via Twitter.
