As NASCAR prepares to make history with its first-ever street race this weekend in Downtown Chicago, it’s bringing to life another first in the tech space by launching its own WhatsApp Channel.
Channels is a new feature the global messaging platform recently rolled out to provide a way to receive simple, secure and private updates from people and organizations, right within WhatsApp. The one-way broadcast tool will appear for users in a new tab called “Updates,” where they can opt to follow statuses and channels, while keeping it separate from their chats with family and friends. Channels enable organizations to share text, photos, and videos on a one direction basis with fans across the globe.

WhatsApp partnered with select global sports properties – including NASCAR, UFC, FC Barcelona and Manchester City FC – to initially launch the feature in Colombia and Singapore before rolling it out to other countries over the coming months. NASCAR has already begun sharing photo and video content on the platform.
The sanctioning body will continue to share real-time content from the historic Chicago Street Race Weekend, including behind-the-scenes clips, event updates and exclusive content directly from Chicago, connecting fans on the other side of the globe to this iconic moment in NASCAR history.
Follow our NASCAR WhatsApp Channel now (only available in Singapore and Colombia)
It’s the perfect example of the capabilities this new feature provides, as NASCAR continues to look for ways to deepen its connection with new and existing fans domestically and abroad.
