Two NASCAR Cup Series teams failed pre-race technical inspection multiple times Saturday at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

The No. 17 RFK Racing team, which enters 11th in The Chase standings with driver Chris Buescher, failed twice on Saturday afternoon, along with the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing team of driver Cody Ware.

As a result, both teams will lose pit-stall selection for Sunday’s Enjoy Illinois 300 (3 p.m. ET, USA Network, HBO Max, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), the second of 10 races in The Chase presented by Mobil 1.

Additionally, No. 17 car chief Joshua Sisco and No. 51 car chief Dave Jones were both ejected for the remainder of the race weekend.

In three starts at Gateway, Buescher has finished 12th, 14th and ninth, earning his first top 10 at the Illinois race track last year. Buescher is 88 points behind series leader Denny Hamlin ahead of Sunday’s race.

Ware is 35th in the standings and finished 29th in last year’s race at Gateway.
