Sunday’s Shriners Children’s 500 NASCAR Cup Series event marks the 56th race hosted by Phoenix Raceway in the series’ history.  The 1-mile, low-banked tri-oval located in Avondale, Arizona has an asphalt racing surface with 8 degrees of banking in turns one and two, 11 degrees in turns three and four, and 3 degrees on the backstretch.  The track first opened in 1964, with the Cup Series holding its inaugural Cup Series race in 1988 with Alan Kulwicki as the winner.
