June 9, 1991: Mark Martin and Tommy Kendall were battling for the lead when Kendall's tire blew out and took out Martin. With those two out, Davey Allison (pictured) and Ricky Rudd took over. Rudd crossed the start-finish line first, but Allison was declared the winner after Rudd received a black flag and an ensuing five-second penalty almost 24 hours after the race ended. Rudd had taken the lead from Allison after bumping him from behind in Turn 11 on the second-to-last lap of the race. Allison spun but recovered to follow Rudd across the finish line, 4.5 seconds behind.

June 7, 1992: Ernie Irvan was black-flagged at the beginning of the race for jumping the green flag and had to work his way back from the rear of the field. Irvan went on to pass every car and capture his first of two career wins at Sonoma.

May 7, 1995: Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt were battling for the lead on the third-to-last lap when Earnhardt thought he smelled oil on the track and avoided that spot the next time around. While Earnhardt avoided the oily patch, Martin drove straight through it and got loose, allowing Earnhardt to make a pass and drive on to victory.

June 28, 1998: California native Jeff Gordon started an unprecedented run of road-course wins in 1998 as he picked up his first career Sonoma win. Gordon would go on to win five of the next nine events at the track. His five wins in Sonoma are the most of any NASCAR driver.

June 20, 2010: Marcos Ambrose had the 2010 race in the bag, or so it looked. Ambrose wanted to conserve fuel toward the end of the race, so he shut his car off under caution but did so in the uphill portion of the track. Ultimately, that caused Ambrose to lose his position after his car did not re-fire, and he finished sixth. Jimmie Johnson would record his first win at Sonoma, instead.

June 26, 2011: After becoming fed up with Brian Vickers' blocking, Tony Stewart, in true Stewart fashion, wrecked him. Vickers wasn't going to let that slide and sent Stewart straight into a tire barrier at Turn 9. Vickers claimed Stewart would later see video proof that Vickers wasn't blocking Stewart, he was slowing to avoid the No. 18 of Kyle Busch. Kurt Busch would go on to win this race.

June 28, 2015: Kyle Busch celebrates his first victory of 2015 after coming back from injuries suffered in the season-opening NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway. That crash left Busch with a broken right leg and a broken left foot, and he missed the first 11 points races of the season. This win kicked off a streak of four wins in the next five races, which eventually propelled Busch to the 2015 title.

June 26, 2016: In his final full-time season, Tony Stewart earned his final win in the NASCAR Cup Series -- and he did so in true "Smoke" fashion. Stewart lost the lead to Denny Hamlin on the final lap, but Stewart then caught Hamlin and thusly moved the No. 11 Toyota out of the way to pull back ahead for his 49th career victory.

June 25, 2017: This was Kevin Harvick's first win of the season, his first win at Sonoma and his first victory in a Ford, after Stewart-Haas Racing made an offseason switch from Chevrolet. Harvick grabbed the checkered flag under caution after Kasey Kahne hit the barriers close to the finish line.

June 24, 2018: It was all about strategy for Martin Truex Jr. and crew chief Cole Pearn at Sonoma. The strategy, which included bluffing Kevin Harvick onto pit road earlier than planned in the final stage of the Toyota/Save Mart 350, allowed Truex to pull off an exhilarating victory. On Lap 73, Pearn called Truex to pit road and Harvick's crew chief, Rodney Childers, decided to make a last-minute decision and follow from the lead. But, as part of the plan, Pearn called off the pit stop and Truex took the lead. All he had to do was hold on during one more pit stop and 18 laps to win the race. And he did.
