We had an inkling that 2017 would be a very good year for Blaney when he finished second to Kurt Busch in the Daytona 500. He started 36th in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford but stayed out of trouble and showed good speed.

Saving the best for last in a packed weekend, Blaney broke through for his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory in the Axalta Presents the Pocono 400. He led just 10 laps, but it was the last 10. It was Wood Brothers Racing's 99th win.

Blaney joined future Team Penske teammate Brad Keselowski in the NASCAR Playoffs. Blaney will drive the No. 12 Team Penske Ford in 2018.
